Amanda Rosenow

Mosaics made from broken pottery and mirror, plus botanical and seasonal embroidery stitched in Lowell, Arkansas.

Amanda is a Lowell resident, the proprietor of Rooted Craft Co, and an artist who works with mosaics and embroidery. Her mosaic materials began with 15 gallons of broken pottery from local clay artisans. She adds commercial glass tile when a design calls for it, but the salvaged pieces lead the work. Curves from bowls fit the curve of a terracotta pot. A handle from a mug that cracked in the kiln became the handle on Door Number 1.

The mirror pieces have their own history: a bedroom mirror fell and shattered. Amanda used its fragments in glittering sunsets and a peace-sign garden stone. That choice, to make something deliberate from a chaotic pile, runs through her work and her own experience of mental health and growth.

Her embroidery takes a quieter scale. Mushrooms, flowers, a pumpkin cottage, and tiny keychain motifs each ask for close attention. Amanda brings that patience to the distressed plants she rescues and grows, too.
