Behind Door Number 1
Every mosaic currently in the shop draws from 15 gallons of broken pottery from local clay artisans. Amanda adds commercial glass tiles when a composition needs them, but the reclaimed ceramics set the direction. Curved pieces from bowls follow the shape of a terracotta pot. In Door Number 1, the handle of a coffee mug that cracked in the kiln becomes a door handle. The old purpose of each piece shapes its new one.
When a bedroom mirror fell and shattered, Amanda worked its shards into glittering sunsets and a peace-sign garden stone instead of accepting seven years of bad luck. The Door Number 1 series explores the unknown on the other side of a choice. What if I took that job? What if I hadn't ghosted that date? Is the next door an opportunity or a regret? Her mosaics turn discarded fragments into lasting art and invite us to see possibilities in disorder.
