Chinese Money Plant Care
Chinese money plant grows upright with round, coin-shaped leaves. It likes bright, indirect light, good drainage, and a little drying time between waterings. As it matures, it may produce pups around its base.
- Light
Give it bright, indirect light. If the stems stretch or the plant leans strongly toward the window, move it to a brighter spot. Harsh direct sun can scorch the leaves.
- Water
Let the top 1 to 2 inches of soil dry before watering. Water thoroughly, then let the pot drain completely. Yellowing leaves or soft stems can be a sign that the soil is staying wet.
- Soil
Use a loose, well-draining indoor potting mix in a pot with a drainage hole. Add perlite or fine orchid bark if the mix holds water for too long.
- Temperature
Normal indoor temperatures suit this plant. Keep it away from cold drafts, heating vents, and sudden temperature changes.
- Humidity
Average indoor humidity is usually enough. If leaf edges turn crisp during dry weather, move it away from vents or give it a more humid spot.
- Common issues
Yellow leaves and soft stems often point to wet soil or poor drainage. Long, leaning stems can mean the plant needs more light. Brown, scorched patches can develop in harsh direct sun. Watch the undersides of the leaves for spider mites and mealybugs.
