Cylindrica Snake Plant Care
Cylindrica Snake Plant, Dracaena angolensis, is a slow-growing succulent with firm, rounded leaves. Give it bright light, gritty soil, and a full dry-out between waterings.
- Light
Give it bright, indirect light or gentle direct sun. It tolerates lower light, but growth will be slower. Introduce stronger sun gradually to prevent scorched patches.
- Water
Let the potting mix dry completely before watering again. Soak the mix, then empty the saucer. Water much less often in winter and keep water out of the center of the plant.
- Soil
Use a free-draining cactus or succulent mix with added grit or perlite. Keep it in a snug pot with a drainage hole. A large pot can hold wet soil around its small root system for too long.
- Temperature
Normal indoor temperatures suit it well. Keep it above 55°F, away from cold drafts, and protected from frost.
- Humidity
Average to low household humidity is best. Do not mist the leaves or place the plant in a steamy room. Gentle airflow helps the mix dry between waterings.
- Common issues
Soft, yellow, or collapsing leaves usually mean the roots stayed wet. Wrinkled leaves can signal thirst, but check that the roots are healthy before watering. Pale patches may come from sudden strong sun or cold. Watch for mealybugs, spider mites, and vine weevils.
