Variegated Peperomia Care
Variegated Peperomia is a compact baby rubber plant with thick, glossy leaves patterned in green and cream. It likes bright, indirect light and stores some water in its leaves, so let the upper soil dry before watering again.
- Light
Give it bright, indirect or filtered light. Deep shade can cause weak, stretched growth, while strong summer sun may scorch the leaves. Gentle winter sun is usually welcome.
- Water
Let the top few inches of potting mix dry before watering. Water evenly, then let the pot drain. Use less water in winter, and never leave the pot standing in water.
- Soil
Use a loose, well-draining houseplant mix. Add perlite or fine bark if the mix stays wet for too long, and choose a pot with a drainage hole.
- Temperature
Keep it in a warm room, ideally between 65 and 86°F. Protect it from cold drafts, hot radiators, and temperatures below 50°F.
- Humidity
Average indoor humidity is usually enough. A little extra humidity can help with brown edges, but the roots still need air and a chance to dry.
- Common issues
Soft stems, yellow leaves, or leaf drop often point to excess water and root rot. Pale or scorched patches may follow direct summer sun. Weak, stretched growth can mean the plant needs more light. Watch for mealybugs, spider mites, whiteflies, and leaf spots.
